The Asian Community & Cultural Center’s services focus on increasing the stability of immigrant and refugee families in Lincoln who face economic and cultural barriers to self-sufficiency as New Americans.
While the needs this population faces may be common, no other entity in Lincoln provides culturally specific services for Asians . We also provide culturally sensitive services to Sudanese families, Afghan families, Yezidi families, and other Central Asian/Middle Eastern families that speak Arabic. For the larger immigrant community, we offer a variety of English language classes and citizenship classes that are open to all.
Many of our regular clients enjoy weekly women's groups, seniors group programs, including exercise groups, computer classes, and field trips, youth group programs, translation and interpretation services, and support regarding INS documents. The Asian Center also provides support with health care issues, including assistance in making doctors’ appointments and visits; domestic violence counseling and guidance, and employment assistance.
Additionally, the Asian Center hosts cultural festivals and celebrations that bring people together to learn about, recognize, and celebrate their unique cultural and ethnic origins. We also share our cultures with the community through educational experiences, such as scheduled cultural orientations or panels, and Camp Culture, a four day summer camp for K-5 students.
